Financial Arrangements

The program is simple and straightforward financially. Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc. keeps your yacht busy chartering when you aren't using it.

1. Charter Revenues. Charter revenues are split 75% to the owner and 25% to Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc., outside charter brokers and travel agents.

2. Yacht Operating Expenses. Each yacht is billed monthly for dockage, charter preparations, maintenance, and repairs. Yachts are billed periodically for costs such as insurance, replacement of linens and other general expenses.

3. Reporting and Payments. The yacht owner receives a statement each month detailing the revenue generated on his/her yacht, and the operating expenses. The owner receives a cheque for the amount of revenue in excess of costs.

4. Maintenance Records. Along with the monthly reporting of income and expenses are details of the maintenance repairs performed on your yacht.

What are the tax advantages?

We are not tax advisors. However, we do know that investment in a charter yacht may qualify as a second home - making the interest on a mortgage deductible in certain jurisdictions. And depending on how your investment is handled, it may allow you to qualify for other tax benefits. We encourage you to consult with legal, accounting, and tax professionals before you enter into an investment in a charter yacht.

Does Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc. offer a guaranteed payment to its yacht owners?

No. We pay you the majority (75%) of the charter revenue. We then bill you for operating and maintenance expenses each month.

Does Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc. have a deal where I can pay 50% down and own my yacht outright?

No. There are no magic numbers when it comes to making an investment in a yacht (or any other investment for that matter.) The financial equation for investing in a yacht consists of the costs involved with purchasing and maintaining the vessel, the charter revenue generated and the market value of the yacht after the charter term.

Through our experience, we know which yachts and equipment perform well in charter, including up-front costs, revenue generating ability and cost-effectiveness to maintain.

Does Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc. limit the type of yachts and equipment in its fleet?

No. Our fleet is made up of monohulls and catamarans. We offer a range of yachts that have proven to be good value, easy to charter and to maintain. Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc. will guide you through the decision process to be sure the yacht will serve both the owners and fleet needs. Reflections Sailing Charters (Caribbean) Inc. also reserves the right to only accept yachts that meet fleet standards.
